Area Attractions
While visiting the Bennington area, don’t forget that there are many ski areas within an hour’s driving time. Mount Snow for example has been home for the ESPN X-Games for the past two years and is located only 45 minutes from Bennington.
Other mountains within an hour drive include Killington, Stratton and Jiminy Peak. For cross country, Prospect Mountain in Woodford is only minutes from town and offers 40 kilometers of fabulous cross-country trails. For snowmobiling, try a guided tour through the Green Mountain National Forest and enjoy the scenic views of Southern Vermont. For the summer season you can try kayaking, canoeing, fishing or hiking right here in the back yard of Bennington, Vermont.
The Bennington area has much to offer, sites such as the Bennington Battle Monument, Bennington Museum and Robert Frost’s grave are all reminders of the rich past here in Bennington. Also located in Bennington are the Bennington Potters, Hemmings Motor News, Bennington College and Southern Vermont College. For annual events the Bennington area is full of wonderful skiing, a 200+ antique car show in the fall and various re-enactments of the revolutionary war. Also exciting to many visitors are the Saratoga races which are located just outside Albany, about 50 miles from Bennington. Shopping is also easily accessible with a short trip to Manchester you will find all the famous shopping outlets and much more.
